Animoto

Has anyone used the web 2.0 application animoto? I want to get my students writing into a technology application. I came across animoto in the past, but I didn't take much of a look. If anyone has used it, any recommendations or suggestions on teaching the application to students? I'll let you know how it goes! We're hoping to spend some time on our big writing projects next week.

Kelly,

I have had an Animoto account for some time. It is one of those tools I have not used much, but I do see potential for the classroom. I do have one mix that I will email to you, of course it is about animals. I see they have a timely Valentine's Day mix, perhaps students could make something for their parents/family?

I would like to see the animal one mentioned by Dave. I love animoto for personal use and bought the $30subscription. I've made a couple of animotos and showed them to my students and posted them to our blog at www.mrsheatonsclass1.blogspot.com

My kids have made several personal ones on their own but I am having trouble finding a pratical use for the classroom. It is quite time consuming for the program to make the videos (I've had it take as long as 30 minutes before).

My students love them. Here is where I think I could find school applicability:
- Putting together a begining of year video for an open house of the things students can expect to do in your class.
- Put together a video of a grant you might have got.
- Put together a school show case video to put on your schools homepage
- Put together a vido of a specific project.
- Showcase what the school/classrooms have been doing at a board or PTO meeting.

If you can think of any else, let me know!
